The First Week and The Summer Edition
its been the first week of The Sagasu Review!
there have been an absolute plethora of changes happening to the site in value of future longevity.
i’ve been able to create a “Support Us” link for very minor monetary submissions, and a “Site Map” for yearly look-backs.
i’ve created Instagram, Twitter and Youtube social medias. just wait for it!
i’ve reformatted the site footer (MUCH more clean, thank you very much) to look hella professional.
i’ve collapsed two primary site sections (spotlight / editorials) into one “features” as they were both vaguely synonymous. that took a lot more consideration and thought than you might think.
i’ve added the primary site section “lists” which will be easy to flourish in a music review site.
i’ve reformatted “new” into “the front page” for better clarity, although i liked the old name more… and i remade the page itself, hopefully to look less grade-school and more professional. something tells me i’ll be back with overhauls soon. little victories.
I have changed the site fonts! i knew it was coming, and i expect it again. fonts are such a minute and powerful detail, it takes extreme time and considerations to properly decide these things. i intend to give the site a powerful identity through clean and meaningful text-type. sites can live and die by fonts! i don’t intend on killing Sago.
and i still have about … … … a hundred more things to tidy up and explore around here. i can feel a true website forming from my constant fiddling and workings. unfortunately i was not gifted with a supreme mind or clairvoyance, so it will take a while to figure out what the site language and feel will be.
on top of all this, there’s a site to write for! reviews, articles, features. one person to author all those pieces takes some incredible effort in tandem with site construction. i wake up with anxiety and excitement just thinking about it!
next up, is our first “Special Edition". the feature “The Summer Edition.”
it’ll be a great way to liven up the site.
i personally think of the site as a sort of magazine, a proper publicaiton. i use the words “issue no. 01” on the site splash page because of this. websites are more fluid and ever-growing, as is the constant flow of efforts and information catalogued here. however, in the magazine sense, i think of The Sagasu Review as more modal means to exhibit new and exciting periods of reviews and work. i would LIKE to plan on more “Special Editions” for autumn and winter, but let’s get through this season first, huh. in any case TSR is meant to showcase itself in its own sort of seasons. for now, i think, TSR can consider its first year to be its first season. thus issue no. 01. for this issue number one, i wanted to do something a bit more exciting than just existing. i thought a summer feature would be a lot of fun and a great way to get people into the pool (so to speak)! it may be ambitious, but i’ll do my best. issue number one will be a collection of efforts given over its first year. the growth, the stumbles, the pain, the joys and all.
stick around for it. it’s gonna be something special.
and yes i did pop a bottle of champagne for the site launch. i’m serious over here!!
sincerely,
Marcus Landeros
