what ai means for the site-
june 5th, 2026
-and why it’s important to address it here.
i don’t think any site is safe from the topic of ai. not even a music review website. ai has begun to permeate society and how we interact, inform and relate to the world around us. the internet is no longer a simple tool for humanity, but a crucial and important communication tool used by everyone every day. i am not here to write a scathing or glow-up piece on ai, i merely want to talk about how it relates to The Sagasu Review and its foundations. with that said, i find great personal use for ai and equal disdain. it’s a complicated tool that has even more complicated effects on us as people and even even more complicated responses. i identify with the hate for it, yet it has also helped me greatly in personal projects.
let me be clear, ai will never be used to write reviews, articles or pieces for The Sagasu Review. period.
The Sagasu Review has actually been made as a sort of creative antithesis for ai. the world is, continues to be, and forever will continue to be steeped deeper and deeper into ai and computational creations. in response i believe humanity will find more natural and bespoke responses to this reality. for this website, that form is reviews and articles written by people. not just written by people, but written as an actual person. people with blind-spots, binary tastes, great ideas, passionate thoughts and/or poor sentence structuring. i think it is important to say that The Sagasu Review is a very human effort, and is built on the very idea of that notion. the greatest strength and weakness of the website lies in its intention to be as non homogeneous as possible. i hope that in a world like today and in a world like tomorrow, people will seek out places like this to hear real takes from real people. in this very way, people have gravitated to more grounded forms of entertainment like vinyl and wired headphones. people have yearn for screenless experiences. people have expressed a desire for more human gatherings. why would it not also be for the content we consume?
The Sagasu Review is important in the scope of ai because it was made to be real and personal. it was made to not be perfect, but intentional. people should want to come to a website for reviews and thoughts they feel are relatable and grounded. for opinions that they may not agree with, but opinions they know are individual. not written or assisted by perfection seeking tools. the very thesis for the site is to be a place to gather and engage with others of a similar appreciation. to feel seen, to feel heard. in that very human connection, ai has no place.
