“still in beta”

may 28th, 2026

The Sagasu Review is something i’ve wanted to do for a very long time now. to say i’m beyond excited to be launching this site is a m-a-s-s-i-v-e understatement. i’ve only annoyed every unfortunate friend i have about it. before all of that vision is delivered, it’s gonna take some time starting things up. i think as of now (may 28th) the site is both properly functioning and generally well laid out. but i’m still going to give myself till July 1st to work on all the small switches and levers until i’m officially happy. (dont get me started on fonts…!) of course TSR will never be complete and there will be plenty of necessary refreshes in the future, both in form and content. before then i hope to have a handful more reviews and pieces up on the site. beyond this i hope to have maybe 1-2 reviews a week published by each thursday. one “album” and one “rewind,” using “tracks” to fill in the gaps. other “spotlight” and “editorials” will need some more time to incubate, that’s a lot for one person!

i think that the site, for a couple months, will be more showcase and proof of concept until i can get the wheels of motion going for real. in other words most of the site reviews will probably be more 8.0/9.0 scoring range. which will probably be a bit uninteresting in the short term. its just a result of reviewing work that i have personally been excited about for a long time. and i want to start to fill the site with foundational content before it can find its footing. long term the criticism can be spread across a more diverse and contrasting range of musical representations. besides, its fun to pan the stinkers!

updates:

i changed the site accent colors to a more uniform and vibrant set. i call the set “City Pop Cartridge.” i meant for it and the site to evoke super-nintendo color-like accents and old monochromatic pc palettes.

i am back and forth on keeping colors in the site title. i like that its playful and nostalgic in essence. i also realize monochrome is more sleek and modern. LAME. i’ll probably be back and forth for a while.

i put up a page for applications and joining the team.

i put up a “Contact” link in the footer for further official questions.

i also hope to use this “notesfrom” page as a way to update on new site additions, events and other small remarks on what is going on around here.

not much else to say about it. time to get back to work.

sincerely,

Marcus Landeros
