“lately, i’ve really been into hip-hop pop/ R&B, specifically from the early 2000’s. i find the style of music both uplifting and energetic. it’s a genre i’ve never really had much time for, however this year it’s really been taking up a lot of my bandwidth! m-flo especially. American hip-hop seems to be more focused on local cultural aspects geared towards money, sex and fame, meanwhile the Japanese branch of this genre feels focused on more sincere struggles and appreciations of life. that’s something i can certainly get behind. it’s also brought me back to a renewed enjoyment of Nujabes and other adjacent artists. i find the music has been injecting my day-to-day life with a new kind of verve.

outside of that, i’m into a lot more. for now i’ll simply include two playlists. one more traditional “currently listening:” feature and the other focused on hip-hop/ R&B (aka vibe rap).
