Penthouse
[review-body]
I stumbled across Dōkeshi the other day and thought I should talk about it. It’s got that big band jazz soul that oozes talent, and while this track was made to honor comedians, Penthouse wasn’t playing around when they made this.
When tracks like these are made for specific shows or even commercials, I love hearing how the effort doesn’t diminish. Dōkeshi was made in collaboration with the comedy show called King of Conte 2026. And it still holds to its own entertainment. The single cover has a comedic factor in its own way too. Theres alot going on to the point you find something new each time you look. You can hear the comical influence too. The horn section holds most of the playfulness and keeps your attention. Theres a subtle guitar with wah effect that’s gently playing into that funky groove. The chorus is nice and catchy too. The vocals show a quick range of dynamics and control even throughout the modulation towards the end.
This is the first I heard of Penthouse, but after this track and giving a few more a listen, I will be coming back for more. They have a wide spectrum of sound and I’m eager for deeper dive.
