I have not heard of Reiya Terakubo until today. But I have been lucky enough to stumble upon his single that released recently, “REM”, and it has been quite the introduction. It shows off so much in just three minutes. Terakubo has a nice warm voice that’s on display. That goes parallel with his skill as a trumpet player, which you can hear on this track as well. He does a good job in mixing Pop & RnB here, there is a well defined groove at play that breaks into a more opened space for some solos with the trumpet and guitar. The composition was done well, everything comes together and then gives the proper space for each other to stand out without any clashing nor muddying sounds. Suffice to say, that his growing education since he was eleven is paying off greatly and we get to be the receivers of such greatness. I wait with anticipation on what comes next from him.
