Kagerou (陽炎) - Indigo la End
rock/ dream pop • 2026
7.9
i’ve long been a fan and listener to Indigo la End, yet i wouldn’t say i’m diehard about them. even as i listen to them now, i have the inkling that they are a full mark better than i ever give them credit for. dream pop/ rock might be the stoically correct way to describe their genre, but i also feel a bit of jazzy efforts in there as well.
Kagerou plays within Indigo la End’s usual lane, down tempo rock with pronounced and treble engaging singing. there are some attention grabbing moments that snap me out of the induced head-nodding funk, and i do enjoy that each part of the song feels distinct from each other section. i also enjoy the rich sound stage that always seems to have a few levels of instruments playing at any given moment. a well constructed and engaging rock song with some real emotion to it.
my only drawback is that while it feels modern and mature, it also feels a touch safe. i seem to have difficulty ever distinguishing between any sequential run of their music. i have have a feeling like “Kagerou” might fall into the same story. on an isolated listen i really like this song, i enjoy hitting replay, it feels good to me. sometimes that’s perfectly enough.
bonus imaginary vibe points for the really cool name (horizon heat shimmer) and the purples and whites in the cover art. it may not affect the review, but i like it anyways.
